Derwentwater Landscape Photography Workshop - into the Sunset
We’ll meet at the Theatre by the Lake, Lakeside, Lake Rd, Keswick CA12 5DJ, for 12:30 p.m. and after a short introduction we’ll head off to photograph the wonders of Isthmus Bay, Crow Park, Friar’s Crag & Standshag Bay
After a stop for refreshments and toilets, we’ll then head off to Surprise View with its spectacular views over the whole of Derwentwater; we’ll capture the stream of Ashness Bridge, before dropping back down to the lake to await sunset (6:19pm) at the famous Ashness Landing (Jetty), and then on into the Blue Hour
By 9:30 p.m. we’ll all call it a day and leave, but you are of course welcome to stay as long as you like, or maybe we’ll go for a final fish & chip tea, or a pint, in Keswick
The car park close to the Theatre is fine for most, but if you like a bit of a walk and wish to save a few quid, then the variously Mountain named streets of Keswick offer free parking (if you can find a spot!). Parking for Surprise View and Ashness Bridge is National Trust, so free to members, and the Ashness Landing car park is currently free to all. 3 persons, possibly 4 depending on size lol, are welcome to travel around Keswick in my car
WHAT TO BRING… something like a 24-70mm (on full-frame, so around 17-55mm on a 1.5x crop sensor) is fine; but anything wider or more powerful will have its moments
Obviously a tripod for those Long Exposure and Fine Art type shots, and any FULL ND filters if you have them; suitable clothing inc. waterproofs, boots or wellies too
